Lee Bullen has again made a mockery of Twitter talk linking Keiren Westwood with a transfer away from Sheffield Wednesday.

Bullen laughed off the notion that Barnsley were interested in landing the Wednesday goalkeeper and went one step further when it was suggested Middlesbrough were ‘willing to sign’ him.

‘SWFC are willing to sign Lionel Messi’, wrote the Owls coach on Twitter, quoting the above.

Westwood is out of contact at the end of this month, although it is expected that his deal will be extended whether by mutual agreement or the option that Sheffield Wednesday are said to have in their favour.

The Republic of Ireland international has spent the past five seasons at Hillsborough and has won the club’s player of the year award in two of those.

He was overlooked by the previous Owls boss, Jos Luhukay, but returned to the side after Bullen was placed in interim charge last December.
