Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz is a man under pressure, after his side suffered yet another defeat in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 at home to Sunderland on Friday night, with the Black Cats scoring three goals in the opening half hour of the match at Hillsborough.
The Owls remain winless in the Championship having taken just two points from their opening nine games of the season.
Inevitably, pressure is piling on Munoz. He’s coming under severe scrutiny from fans who are questioning his every decision, and rightly so.
Friday’s defeat could well have been Munoz’s last game but he remains at the helm for the time being. Though it appears that Munoz may well have been axed even before the Sunderland game, but for an interesting claim regarding his compensation.
Journalist Darren Witcoop tweeted after Friday’s game:
“Was told that Xisco Munoz would be leaving the Sheff Weds job after the Swansea defeat. Still in charge – club either haven’t got a deal completed for a replacement or owner doesn’t want to pay compo. Thinking could now be latter if he doesn’t go after this tonight.”
It comes after owner Dejphon Chansiri released yet another club statement, this time stating that he refuses to put any more money into the club amid the increasing criticism that he’s facing.

Both on and off the pitch, this time right now might be the most difficult and worrying that Sheffield Wednesday have ever faced.
The club are losing money and losing games every week. Munoz’s team selection has been woeful at times this season and many, many Owls fans will say he needs to go.
But Witcoop’s comments suggest that financial reasons mean he’s set to stay for a while longer.
Chansiri has made the manager’s position at Wednesday rather untenable and so finding a decent manager that’ll be willing to take on the challenge, and who’ll also be within Wednesday’s price range, is going to be extremely difficult.
