Sheffield Wednesday have done something really impressive in the first half against Plymouth this evening. That’s the opinion of The Star journalist Joe Crann.
The Owls go in at the break two goals behind. In the opening 45 minutes, they have had their moments but ultimately have been unable to get one over the line themselves.
Crann has taken to Twitter to speak of his delight at something which the Owls did in the opening 45 – despite the team losing. He thinks it’s crystal clear that Danny Rohl has already started to get a tune out of the Wednesday team.
Journalist impressed with Wednesday performance so far
It’s going to be a case of baby steps for Wednesday as they bid to get an improvement in their results. On Wednesday night, Crann was incredibly happy with what he saw in the opening 45.
He took to Twitter around the half-hour mark to say: “It’s really impressive how much Danny Rohl appears to have achieved already at #SWFC in terms of the way he wants them to play. Can already see patterns in what they’re doing – they look a lot more comfortable on the ball and getting forward too.”
Rohl is embarking on his first job in management. He’s held high-profile roles with Southampton, RB Leipzig and the German national team but now he is in the number-one role for the first time.

Hopefully, the Owls can find a way to goal in the second period. It’s what the first-half performance deserves but Wednesday did come up short in that aspect.
Rohl is clearly working hard on getting a tune out of his players after a poor start to the season. The fan base must be delighted with what they’re witnessing and a lack of goals certainly isn’t through a lack of effort.
What the supporters will be disgruntled with is the defensive work. Wednesday have to shore up at the back and a big 45 minutes is now in store for the Owls later on.
