It’s now been claimed why a move made by Sheffield Wednesday for Ipswich midfielder Panutche Camara has failed to come to fruition. It was reported yesterday that the Owls missed out on the signing of the maestro.
Now, the deal is off. BBC Sheffield reporter Rob Staton believes that it’s Ipswich that have pulled the plug. It’s believed that they don’t want the player to join another Championship club this summer.
The 26-year-old joined Ipswich from Plymouth in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, the move proved nothing short of a disaster and he made just four appearances during the 2022/23 campaign.
Now, he’s going to move on from Portman Road and he might have felt like he was hitting the jackpot heading to Wednesday. They won promotion back in May, although only one new signing has arrived at the club.
Now, it’s become abundantly clear why Wednesday missed out on Camara. The club will now go back to the drawing board in an attempt to bolster Xisco Munoz’s squad before the big kick-off.
Before his Ipswich debacle, Camara played for Plymouth and Crawley. He made 118 appearances for Crawley and 95 during his time with the Pilgrims.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that the Tractor Boys pipped Wednesday to promotion, they’re also thwarting their attempts to sign new players.
It’s not looking particularly good for the Owls. Only Reece James has signed for the club on a permanent deal for the club, signing terms at the end of his loan spell.
Camara would have provided something a little bit different to the Wednesday squad. He typically operates in the middle of the park and is capable of fulfilling a number of different roles.
Ryan Lowe used to manage Camara at Plymouth. He’s a huge fan of the midfielder and back in 2021, he told Plymouth Live: “He’s a fantastic player. The fans love him and we love him, that’s why he plays every game.
Wednesday will perhaps be a bit disappointed not to get this one over the line. Now, it’s a case of cracking on and Munoz will hope that his recruitment drive can ramp up when the players return from Spain this week.
