Two Sheffield Wednesday summer signings could feature more regularly under Danny Rohl

Sheffield Wednesday kickstart life under new boss Danny Rohl with a trip to Watford in the Championship this weekend.

Few know what to expect from Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

Rohl is an unproven manager having been an assistant coach so far in his career, so how he’ll line up and what tactics he’ll deploy with Wednesday remains to be seen.

But changes are expected from Xisco Munoz. The likes of Marvin Johnson have come back into the fold and other previously exiled players look set to play a role too, in names like Michael Ihiekwe.

But journalist Dom Howson believes that summer signings Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama could feature quite heavily under Rohl, who wants to deploy a hgh press.

Howson posted on X last night:

“I can see the likes of Musaba and Gassama featuring prominently under the new #SWFC boss.”

Musaba has perhaps been Sheffield Wednesday’s best signing of the season so far with two goals in all competitions and one in eight Championship outings.

Gassama meanwhile has barely featured. He’s made just three outings in the league since arriving from PSG in the summer, having mainly played for the club’s U21s side.

A new-look Sheffield Wednesday?

Despite having had very little time with the players, expect Sheffield Wednesday to look markedly different this weekend.

Munoz’s tactics and selection were so poor that Rohl can make a few obvious changes and alterations to immediately improve the side, and expect the likes of Musaba and Gassama to be key players.

Both have that pace and energy which can give Rohl his high-press, though whether both of them or just one starts this weekend remains to be seen.

Fans are excited for the game at Vicarage Road and eager to see how Rohl sets out his new side.

Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday.
