Speaking on Sheffield Wednesday’s official YouTube channel, Joey Pelupessy has shared what he told Jordan Rhodes after his brace against Barnsley at the weekend.
Wednesday finally got back to winning ways on Saturday, and there was one man they had to thank for their three points as Jordan Rhodes netted twice against the Tykes.
Understandably, Rhodes was the man of the moment in the dressing room after the game, and Pelupessy has shared what he said to him after the match.

“Yeah of course, I said to him after the game ‘I am really really happy for you,’ because he is working hard every day in the training ground and if you score two goals in an important game I am really happy for him, and the whole team is really happy for him. The first one I really enjoyed, it was a great header, he was up in the air, nice goal. So yeah, it was a good day,” Pelupessy said.
It’s great to hear that the whole group were happy to see Rhodes back to his best, but it’s even better to hear that the Scotland international is putting in the work on the training ground to make this happen.
We’ve not seen it much at Wednesday, but we mustn’t forget that Rhodes remains one of the deadliest strikers the Championship has ever seen, and if he can rediscover the sort of form he showed earlier in his career, he could score the goals that will keep Wednesday in this division.
Fingers crossed Rhodes’ rich vein of form continues.
