The Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie is among those reacting to Callum Paterson’s Sheffield Wednesday move on his Scotland teammate’s Instagram page.

McBurnie played for Swansea City while Paterson was down the road at Cardiff City.

And the two friends will be rivals once again in Sheffield.

After completing his switch from Cardiff to Wednesday earlier – which is said to have cost the Owls around £500,000 – Paterson declared himself ‘absolutely buzzing’ to be at Hillsborough.

And McBurnie – who is one of three Sheffield United players with whom Paterson and Liam Palmer are due to meet up during next week’s international break – replied as follows:

McBurnie and Paterson have nine and 13 Scotland caps, respectively, without scoring, and have appeared together on four occasions.

The latter player began his career as a right-back and has also occupied a variety of midfield roles.

But the 25-year-old told Wednesday’s official Youtube channel earlier that he has been signed by the Owls as a striker.

McBurnie is said to have cost Sheffield United a then club-record fee of £17 million last summer.
