Sheffield Wednesday lost 4-1 away at Coventry City in the FA Cup fourth round last night, but it was a debut for one young Owls man.
Danny Rohl made nine changes to the side that lost away at Huddersfield Town in the previous outing, suggesting ahead of last night’s game that his focus was on Friday’s Championship clash vs Birmingham City.
And it was another tough game against a tough Coventry City side who’ve now beaten Sheffield Wednesday twice in the last five games.
The score was 1-1 at half-time owing to a Bailey Cadamarteri goal, but the Sky Blues scored three after the break to book themselves a favourable fifth round tie vs Maidstone United at the end of the month.
Gui Siqueira earns full Sheffield Wednesday debut
Brazilian full-back Siqueira started at right-back last night.
It marked his full debut for the Owls after a handful of substitute appearances in the FA Cup, and it was a tough debut for the 19-year-old former QPR youngster.
He was brought off at half-time and replaced by the vastly experienced Liam Palmer, and after the game, journalist Joe Crann gave this verdict on Siqueira’s debut:

Right now, it’s not looking good for Sheffield Wednesday.
The gap to safety in the Championship is now eight points and after some poor recent performances against Huddersfield Town and Coventry City last night, it’s hard to see the Owls closing that gap.
But with Rohl at the helm, there’s always a chance. And if worst comes to worst then another stint in League One should be a lot brighter for the club, especially if it gives whoever the manager is a chance to breed through some of the younger players.
Names like Siqueira, Joey Phuthi, Pierce Charles and more could all become regular starters in League One next year, or back-up players should the Owls remain in the Championship.
So giving them game time now will better prepare them for next season, and with injuries continuing to come in, they could even have a part to play in this final run-in in the Championship.
The Owls have 16 games of their season left and a string of wins would bring them right back into contention to stay up, though it’s certainly going to be very, very tough.
