A former Sheffield Wednesday fan favourite has now landed his first first-team coaching role.
Former Sheffield Wednesday hero Ross Wallace is now back in the English Football League.
The 38-year-old last played for St Mirren but is best known for stints playing with Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday.
Across an 18-year playing career which started at Celtic, Wallace went on to make 520 total appearances, scoring 49 goals and making 99 assists along the way.
The one-time Scottish international played for Sunderland, Preston North End, and then spent five years at Turf Moor before arriving at Hillsborough in 2015.
The winger went on to make 124 total appearances for the Owls, scoring 13 and assisting 20 more.
Wallace scored in both play-off semi-final legs against Brighton in the 2015/16 season, then starting the final against Hull City at Wembley which the Owls went on to lose.
After his Wednesday release in 2018, Wallace spent a year at Fleetwood Town, and he’s back there now.

After retiring in 2020, Wallace spent time working as a youth coach at Burnley.
Though in December last year he landed his first first-team role with League One outfit Fleetwood Town.
They named former Liverpool and Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam as their new boss, with Wallace joining Adam at the club after the pair worked together at Burnley.
Fleetwood were winless in nine after Lee Johnson left. Then after a slow start, Adam’s team picked up a couple of wins and have since lost just two of their last six in League One, with seven points separating them from safety with 13 games of the season left.

Ross Wallace could go up against the Owls next season
With Sheffield Wednesday currently sitting in 23rd place of the table, and four points from the drop, it could well be that Wallace and Wednesday are reunited in League One next season.
But Danny Rohl will do his best to make sure that doesn’t happen, and after two wins in their last three games, there seems to be a strong chance that Sheffield Wednesday can defy the odds and beat the drop this season.
And the same goes for Wallace at Fleetwood; they’ve put some points on the board of late and have given themselves a very definite chance of survival, so it’ll be interesting to see how both teams fare.
Sheffield Wednesday though are back in action against Bristol City in S6 this weekend, with a win able to lift the Owls to within a point of Millwall who travel to promotion-chasers Southampton.
