The former Sheffield Wednesday physio Paul Smith is back in football with Aston Villa.
Smith, who joined his boyhood club in 2009, was among the backroom-team casualties after Wednesday failed to gain promotion via the Championship play-offs two years ago.
After a spell at Bury, he was most recently employed as Senior MSK Physiotherapist at his dad’s practice – Alan Smith Physiotherapy Ltd – in Rotherham.
And in a tweet posted on Monday night, the younger Smith explained that he will continue to work privately in tandem with his new role at Aston Villa.

He is not the only former Wednesday employee currently on the Aston Villa staff, with the Villans boss Dean Smith an ex-Owls captain.

Another Alan Smith is also a physio at Aston Villa.
Sheffield Wednesday were reported to be looking for a new physio to work alongside Antonio Quintela, after Carlos Sales left to join Aston Villa’s local rivals, Wolverhampton Wanderers, in July.
It is unclear, however, if the role has been filled.
