Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has just set an unwanted record with new club Port Vale.
In the space of a year, Moore has gone from lifting the League One play-off final with Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley, to the brink of relegation to League Two with Port Vale.
Moore got the Owls over the line last season but left at the start of the summer following a feud with owner Dejphon Chansiri.
After a few months out of the game, Moore returned to the dugout with Sheffield Wednesday’s Yorkshire and relegation rivals Huddersfield Town, eventually leaving after just three wins in 22 games at the helm.
And then Moore took even less time out of the game, jumping right back in with a five-and-a-half year deal at League One outfit Port Vale.
Darren Moore’s record at Port Vale
Moore has now overseen eight games in charge of the Valiants.
He took charge with the club in 21st place of the table with only goal difference keeping them in the drop zone.
But his first game was a 3-2 loss against fellow strugglers Cheltenham Town and that set the tone for what’s followed.
Moore has taken just two points from a possible 24 so far, with Vale now six points adrift with nine games left to play.

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore sets unwanted record at Port Vale
Things are not looking good for former Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers, and West Brom manager Moore right now.
The 49-year-old watched his side lose 2-0 at home to promotion-chasers Oxford United last weekend and now, from the last eight games in which Moore has been at the club, Port Vale are the only team in League One without a win to their name.
Their winless run stretches all the way back to 2023; their last win was in their last game of last year, beating Blackpool 3-0 at home but going winless in the 14 games since, taking just four points from those games.
So it’s certainly been a rollercoaster year for Moore.
But with five more years left on his Vale contract after this season, he’s arguably been given the security to build with the club from what is likely going to be League Two.
That’s a huge decline for a manager who won the League One play-offs last year, but it shows his determination to succeed as a manager.
Sheffield Wednesday fans will of course wish him well, as they themselves pray that Danny Rohl can keep their team from relegation this season.
Wednesday return to Hillsborough later this month where they face Swansea City in the Championship.
