Fernando Forestieri seemingly left out of Sheffield Wednesday squad to face QPR

It emerged on Thursday that Preslav Borukov has travelled with the Sheffield Wednesday squad to Queens Park Rangers.

But it seems that another Owls striker will not be involved at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium later.

It is understood that Fernando Forestieri started for the Wednesday Under-23s against Hull City earlier.

And Forestieri appears to have spent the rest of Friday afternoon cooking up a feast with the new Hillsborough recruit Manuel Hidalgo.

Forestieri has not appeared for Wednesday since the 3-1 win at Charlton Athletic in late November.

And speaking this week the Owls boss Garry Monk said he was unsure whether the Argentine would be involved at QPR with an U23 game to consider.

Monk also ruled out a call-up for Hidalgo as he works his way towards match fitness.

The 20-year-old had failed to make a single appearance for his former club US Triestina Calcio this season.

Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 3-2 by Hull at Middlewood Road with David Bates understood to have scored both Owls goals.

Forestieri is out of contract at Hillsborough this summer and could be one of the players moved on as Monk gets to grips with the squad he inherited from Steve Bruce in September.
