Exclusive: Sheffield Wednesday considering offer for trialist Jesurun Uchegbulam, meeting expected early next week

The mystery trialist who played for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-23s against Birmingham City on Friday afternoon was not the Mossley winger, Jesurun Uchegbulam, SWN understands.

Uchegbulam was on trial at Middlewood Road and played in the U23s’ defeat against Barnsley last month.

But Wednesday are still considering offering a contract to the teenager, with a meeting expected to take place early next week as the Owls attempt to finalise a decision.

Uchegbulam signed for Mossley from Stockport Town in the summer of 2018 and made his debut for the Northern Premier League Division One West side earlier this year.

He recently had a spell back at Stockport Town, where he was crowned player of the month for August, before being recalled by Mossley, for whom he has featured since linking up with Sheffield Wednesday.

The identity of Wednesday’s latest trialist is currently unknown by SWN.

The Owls U23s were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham, whose first team drew at Hillsborough on Wednesday.
