Sheffield Wednesday claimed their first point of the season on Saturday, drawing 0-0 away at Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
Few gave Sheffield Wednesday a chance going into Saturday’s game at Elland Road. Xisco Munoz’s men went into it having lost all four of their opening games of the 2023/24 Championship season, having previously been the only side without a point on the board.
But the Owls left with a very credible point following a hardened performance, and after the game, one of Munoz’s many summer signings Bambo Diaby had this message for the fans:
Diaby joined on a permanent deal from Championship rivals Preston North End earlier in the summer.
The former Barnsley man has since featured four times in the Championship for Wednesday, starting and finishing each of the last four league games as he cements his position in the starting XI.

Diaby is one of 12 total players to arrive at Hillsborough during the summer transfer window, with midfielders John Buckley and Jeff Hendrick both arriving on loan on deadline day.
A confidence-builder
Wednesday fans may have been very surprised to see their team come away from Saturday’s game with a point, but very pleased.
It could yet prove to be a huge point for the club, because like Diaby points out in his message, it’s a point on which Munoz and his side can start to build some confidence upon.
Every game this season is going to be a tough one for Wednesday and there’s still obvious areas to improve upon. But the players can go into future games knowing that they can hold the likes of Leeds United at their own ground.
Wednesday return to action v Ipswich Town after the international break.
