Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon ‘has no plans to sell the club’, reports Alan Nixon, even if the Owls are relegated to League One.
Sheffield Wednesday fans have had to endure a circus this season.
Owner Chansiri has often come under criticism for his running of the club, but this season has seen Wednesday suffer both on and off the pitch, with new financial fears and a number of Chansiri outbursts.
The latest Chansiri statement warned fans of a £2million HMRC debt which he asked the Wednesday faithful to pay between them.
Chansiri then decided to pay the bill in what seemed like something of a publicity move.
Fans remains furious at the running of the club and rightly so. But Nixon has posted on Patreon this morning to reveal that the Thai businessman has no intentions to sell the club.
Nixon adds that Chansiri has no plans to sell even if the club are relegated.
Should Dejphon Chansiri sell Sheffield Wednesday?
It’s an easy question for fans, who would largely answer ‘yes’.
For Chansiri though; he’s pumped his fair share of money into the club and he’s had very little reward, so he’s in a difficult position.
If he sells then he takes a hit, but if he stays then there’s always the chance that he can make some kind of money back.
And given the state of the club right now, it wouldn’t be a good time to sell, so selling the club this season really doesn’t make sense from Chansiri’s point of view.
For Wednesday fans, that’s obviously bad news. Chansiri is running the club into the ground and only the performances of Danny Rohl and his players are giving the fans any hope for the future.
