Danny Rohl will have to take some blame for the disaster that occurred in Sheffield Wednesday’s second outing of the Championship season.
The German coach has received very little criticism since arriving at Sheffield Wednesday in October, but has already admitted that he will take ‘responsibility‘ for the 4-0 defeat.
Rohl opted for the same team that hammered Plymouth Argyle on the opening day, but against a much tougher opponent, his tactics and formation didn’t go down too well.

Rohl applauded by Sunderland journalist after defeat
Fans won’t be too critical of him though as he navigates the start of his coaching career, while has actually been labelled a ‘class act’ following the trip to Wearside.
Sunderland Echo journalist James Copley wrote on X: “Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl just came in and shook everyone’s hand in the press room. About 15/20 people. Not the first time he has done that either. Absolute class act.”
The Sheffield Wednesday coach still has a lot to learn
Rohl has it all going on for him, despite a difficult afternoon.
The German is only 35 years old, is comfortably one of the best managers in the Championship and is also clearly a lovely person. Combining the three is very rare in English football.
While Rohl will learn from his mistakes from the weekend, he has already shown how far he has progressed in his coaching career since joining Sheffield Wednesday, while he has brought the players along with him on that journey.
You are always going to get things wrong in the early stages of something new, but the good things have definitely outweighed the bad and there is no doubting that supporters will continue to back him.
It was a big reality check for the Owls, but will only better prepare them for their clash with Leeds United later this week.
The Whites have taken two draws and a defeat in their opening three games in all competitions, while Wednesday will have the advantage of playing at Hillsborough once again.
If they can return to impressive form against Leeds then all will be forgotten, but this time, the team certainly won’t be naive to their talented squad.
The hammering by Sunderland could end up being a really helpful lesson in the long run.
