Danny Rohl has thanked Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri in an emotional message on his Instagram.

Danny Rohl became a hero at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, as a 2-0 win over Sunderland confirmed their survival.

The German coach moved to Hillsborough when they were already seven points adrift at the bottom of the Championship, having failed to win in their opening eleven matches.

While the opening months of his stint were inconsistent, a brilliant run of form before Christmas looked to have given them an opportunity to climb their way out of the bottom three.

However, it wasn’t until their win over Blackburn Rovers last month that they managed to move to safety for the first time since the opening day.

Wednesday eventually only needed a single point from their trip to Wearside, but three wins on the bounce went onto confirm their Championship status for next term.

Rohl did an ‘unbelievable’ job keeping the club up after only seven months and while he will take most of the credit, he was eager to thank both the fans and Dejphon Chansiri for their contribution.

Danny Rohl thanks Chansiri for his ‘trust’

Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 35-year-old wrote: “On May 4th 2024, we were able to make the impossible possible. After more than 6 months full of passion, commitment and togetherness, we were able to achieve our goal. Unbelievable, but true. I would like to thank my coaches, my staff, my players and above all our massive fans for your support. We could only achieve this together.

“At this point many thanks to our chairman, who gave me the opportunity and the trust to make me manager.

“This season will remain unforgettable for me forever and shows what believe, attitude, positive spirit and a plan can achieve. Thank you.”

Can the Sheffield Wednesday owner meet Rohl’s demands?

Danny Rohl’s appreciation for Dejphon Chansiri can only be a positive thing, given that the relationship between the pair will be vital if the club are to keep hold of the coach.

Rohl has already been linked with a move to Sunderland now it is believed that Hull City are interested too, though their survival means he is expected to stay in Yorkshire.

The chairman certainly deserves credit for appointing the former German national team coach, but it is now up to him to give him what he wants and keep him at the club in the long-term.

Rohl has made it clear that he will need backing in the transfer window, while he has also addressed the need for improved training facilities at Middlewood Road.

It is believed that the pair have already engaged in ‘positive’ talks over his future, and Rohl’s message to Chansiri could perhaps suggest they are on the right track to confirming his place at the club next season.
