Sheffield Wednesday have endured an extremely turbulent season so far.
At one point, the Owls looked down and out. Then came Danny Rohl who gave the club a sense of belief, and it wasn’t a misplaced sense of belief either.
Sheffield Wednesday have puts in some good performances and have picked up some big wins, with wins against Birmingham City and Millwall in their last three to leave themselves four points from safety.
Bristol City visit Hillsborough this weekend. It’s another winnable home game for the Owls, with Liam Manning’s side losing 1-0 at home to QPR in their last outing, currently sitting in 12th.
Danny Rohl sends rallying cry to Sheffield Wednesday fans
Speaking to the club ahead of this weekend’s game vs Bristol City, Rohl gave this rallying cry to Sheffield Wednesday fans:
“When I look back since the beginning of my time here, we have had a lot of good games but this is now the crunch time in the Championship.
“It means we really need the results to come closer and everybody should feel that Wednesday are still alive. It has not been easy but now we have more teams around us, a little closer and this is a good feeling.
“I need to make sure we go forward and there is no rest until the end of the season.”
Rohl has created unlikely sense of togetherness
Soon after the start of the season when Xisco Munoz’s tenure was starting to unravel, and Dejphon Chansiri was throwing his many club statements out, there was a huge sense of disconnect at the club.
At that moment, there wasn’t a single hope for Sheffield Wednesday.
It looked as though this season was null and void before it had really begun, yet Rohl has come in and against all the odds, he’s given Sheffield Wednesday some hope.
With largely the same set of players as Munoz, Rohl has transformed the Owls’ fortunes this season, and there’s a very great chance that Wednesday stay up.
At home, Sheffield Wednesday are becoming a force to be reckoned with, with wins against Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Birmingham City in the past couple of months.
And Bristol City, after losing at home to QPR in midweek, really won’t want to face a Sheffield Wednesday side who are also right down near the bottom and fighting for their lives.
It’s certainly a winnable game, and it’s another cup final that the fans really need to get behind Rohl and the players for.
