Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has praised backroom team member Sascha Lense for his influence off the pitch on the Owls squad.
Lense joined the club last month as performance director, following Rohl’s appointment as first-team manager, replacing Xisco Munoz.
Rohl has also added plenty of other staff to his coaching team, with former England coach Chris Powell and former Arsenal goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo also joining.
Rohl hails backroom team member
Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Rohl praised his colleague for his role behind-the-scenes at the club,
“He is my right hand off the pitch.
“He’s always involved in all the individual meetings that I have with the players. My part is to speak about the tactical things whereas Sascha is always looking at how we can support the players.
“Sometimes maybe, for example, they need help sleeping so we’ll look at what we can do there. Maybe they need other things to help cope with stressful situations. So Sascha is always looking to support our players off and around the pitch. This is very helpful for me and it’s good to have him here.”
Good to hear Lense is doing his job well
It is good to hear that Lense is doing a good job.
The job Lense has to do is a lot more important whilst the team are going through a tough run of form, only winning once so far this season.
This could cause the players’ mental health to be worse, which makes Lense’s job so much more important.
Hopefully the player can put the work in on the pitch to turn things around, which will lift the overall mood around the club and leaving Lense with less to do.
Wednesday will be hoping to get their second win of the season when they host league leaders Leicester City on Wednesday night.
