Danny Rohl has told Sheffield Wednesday what they need to do to get a result against Leicester City this evening.
Sheffield Wednesday brought their six-game run without a win to an end last time out, as they picked up a huge 2-0 win over Birmingham City on the big screen.
The victory takes them to within five points of safety, but another defeat tonight could push them back into huge danger.
While the three points against Tony Mowbray’s side was certainly promising and well deserved, another such performance against Leicester City seems less likely.
The Foxes currently sit top of the Championship – eleven points clear of second place Southampton. Enzo Maresca’s side have only lost four games all season, while they have drawn three – with one of those coming against Sheffield Wednesday in November.
Jeff Hendrick’s last minute equaliser rescued an unlikely point for the Owls at Hillsborough last time out, though it will be an even tougher ask as they travel to the Midlands.
Leicester have lost only one of their last 17 games in all competitions, while they are unbeaten on home soil in over three months.
Despite the challenge ahead, Danny Rohl remains positive ahead of tonight’s clash.
Speaking to The Star, the German said: “In this league you have a lot of big, big games with strong opponents and I will not look to the table because everybody knows this,” he said. “We did a good job at home against Leicester but of course away down there, it is much more difficult. We have to go and be brave. We want to brave and try again. Why not?”
Sheffield Wednesday‘s trip to Leicester is made even harder by the fact that it is midweek, meaning it is sandwiched by only a few days either side of the Birmingham win and this weekend’s outing at Millwall.
“It’s not so easy to make a big rotation in every position,” Rohl added. “I will look who is fresh, who can go, what is the best shape against them, what is helpful for us and let’s have a look at surprising people with what we can do.
“Hopefully I can find some solutions against them and then we can try, but for me it is about showing up, fighting. If we invest everything we can do, we will see whether it is enough or not.”
Can Sheffield Wednesday cause an upset again?
Sheffield Wednesday have shown they are capable of proving people wrong this season, however their record agains the top eight teams has been rather poor so far.
Two points against Leicester and Leeds United and a win over Hull City is all they have managed to claim this term – conceding 17 goals and scoring eight in six games.
Meanwhile, only two of their seven wins in the Championship have come away from home.
It is going to be one of the toughest games of their campaign, but the same was said about the reverse fixture and that didn’t turn out too badly.
