Sheffield Wednesday midfielder John Buckley was absent against Birmingham City due to a family bereavement.
Buckley was absent on Saturday afternoon as Wednesday gave up their lead to lose 2-1 at St Andrew’s.
George Byers gave the Owls the lead in the 45th minute, but Juninho Bacuna equalised for the hosts in the third minute of added on time in the first half.
Jordan James then scored in the 81st minute to give the hits and Blues’ manager Wayne Rooney his first win in charge of the club.
The loss means that Wednesday remain bottom of the Championship, with only one win in their six games under Rohl’s management.
Rohl confirms bad news for midfielder
Speaking to the Sheffield Star following the loss to Birmingham, manager Danny Rohl confirmed the news.
“We had a family issue for John Buckley overnight.
“In this case sometimes football is not at all important and that is the reason I sent him home to his family. It was very important.
“These are humans and that was the reason I took a second goalkeeper on the bench because we had a squad of 18 players and three goalkeepers.”

Buckley’s absence is not good news at all, and we will hope he is back in action soon once he is feeling better.
Wednesday certainly needed the midfielder, with them being overrun in midfield on Saturday.
Buckley joined Wednesday on deadline day on a season-long loan from fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
So far for the Owls Buckley has made has made eleven appearances in the second tier, but only started five of those.
