Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl oversaw a 1-0 defeat at Watford as he started life as the club’s manager. A late goal consigned Wednesday to a ninth defeat of the campaign.
However, the boss was happy with some aspects of the performance despite the result. He’s been gushing about some of his team’s play during the Vicarage Road clash and he believes the tide will turn.
The Owls go to Plymouth in midweek and they desperately need a morale-boosting victory. Argyle are currently one place above the relegation zone and it’d be a great time to grab a first win.
Rohl makes statement after Wednesday defeat
Rohl is starting life as a manager for the first time at Wednesday. He now has to get used to being the man that makes the decisions and he was seemingly happy with his team yesterday.
He thinks things will change and made a rousing statement after the game. He told Yorkshire Live: “I’m convinced about the team and that we can do this (survive). We’re up for the fight and it’s a long season For me it was a good signal of how we’re ready.
“It’s important to get first impressions out on the pitch. Hopefully, we can go forward with our fans to create energy and in the dressing room there’s energy and belief.”
Rohl satisfied despite defeat
The young boss will need to learn fast. However, it would seem as though there were plenty of positives from his perspective yesterday despite another defeat.
The Owls desperately need to claim that first victory. Plymouth aren’t in the best of form and midweek provides the team with a wonderful chance to get three points.
Rohl seems like a good man and Wednesday could thrive under him. He will be working tirelessly on the training pitch to put his own stamp on the team and hopefully, Wednesday can get more points before the November international break.
