Sheffield Wednesday turned down offers from Premier League outfit West Ham for Bailey-Tye Cadamarteri. The Owls youngster is edging closer to the first team and looks like a talented player for the future.
Now, his dad, Danny, has claimed that the club rejected the advances of the Hammers and handed him a long-term contract. Cadamarteri has been in fine goalscoring form for the under-21s during 2023/24.

Wednesday interim manager Neil Thompson included Cadamarteri on the bench for his one game in charge earlier this month; a 0-0 draw against Huddersfield at Hillsborough.
West Ham wanted Cadamarteri
This is certainly intriguing news from a Wednesday perspective. It would have been a hammer blow to lose the talented youngster and watch him get nurtured elsewhere.
It’s the player’s dad who has made these claims. During his playing career, Cadamarteri played in the Premier League with Everton and also spent time with Wednesday’s rivals Sheffield United.
He’s been speaking to this week’s edition of the Football League Paper and confirmed the interest in his son. He said: “West Ham made bids for Bailey two years ago but they were turned down and he’s now on a long-term contract.”
Cadamarteri is the future at Wednesday
The striker looks lethal in the academy ranks and surely the natural progression will be for him to get a chance in the senior squad. Lee Gregory and Michael Smith are both in their thirties and surely some youthful exuberance would be ideal.

Cadamarteri is the sort of player that comes alive in the penalty area. He’s been clinical in the under-21s this season and he must feel as though he’s outgrowing that sort of football.
With Wednesday in a bit of turmoil right now, utilising Cadamarteri might be the way to go. Danny Rohl will want as much excitement bringing to his team as possible and the striker is capable of adding that to the team.
