Carlos Carvalhal has sent a message to Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter after his return to Hillsborough on Monday.
Carvalhal was part of the Sky team for Wednesday’s Steel City Derby encounter with Sheffield United, and posted the following tweet afterwards:
Thank you to the whole 💙Owls family 💙 for their warm welcome yesterday at Hillsborough. I really enjoyed seeing so many old faces. 😉👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/YjoY1ErtvS

The Portuguese led the Owls for two-and-a-half years before his departure by mutual consent on Christmas Eve, 2017.
He later had a spell at Swansea City but has often been found doing media work since then.
Carvalhal was pictured sharing a joke with Sheffield United’s manager Chris Wilder, who mentioned the 53-year-old in a interview with the BBC afterwards.

“I’ve always said, and I stick by it, Sheffield Wednesday have got that quality,” Wilder admitted. “I know Carlos was having a moan up to me before the game about the players that they had out, but their squad is absolutely packed full of really good players.

“They’ve got some good players at the top of the pitch that can pull something out of nothing. (Steven) Fletcher’s been in outstanding form. (Adam) Reach is a really good player. (Barry) Bannan is a Scottish international. You can go right the way through the group.”
