Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter have been reacting to the news that Kieran Lee is currently on trial at Bolton Wanderers.

Lee was let go by the Owls at the end of last season, and having not been able to find a club in the summer, he’s now on trial with a League Two outfit.

This is a huge drop for a player who was starring in the Championship not too long ago, but no Wednesday fan needs reminding what a spate of bad injuries did to his career.

Indeed, Lee only managed 31 league starts in his last three seasons at Hillsborough, but last term he did look as though he was getting back on track, starting 20 league games.

Lee undoubtedly cemented himself as a fan favourite for his performances at Wednesday during his early days in Yorkshire, particularly under Carlos Carvalhal, so as you can imagine, the fanbase had mixed feelings about him going on trial with Bolton.

Some fans wished him all the best as they wanted him to get his career back on track after a torrid couple of years, but others couldn’t help but feel annoyed about the situation.

The situation had clearly wound a few fans up as they believe that Lee should still be plying his trade for Wednesday, stating that he’s better than a number of players who have been kept on at the club, while he was allowed to leave.

Here’s what Owls supporters have been saying on social media…
