Speaking on the Singing The Blues Podcast, Dom Howson has delivered an exciting update on Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer plan in the coming days.
The Owls haven’t been all that active in the window so far, making just two free agent signings in the shape of Andre Green and Sam Hutchinson, but it seems as though they could be getting another player in before the deadline.
The man the Owls are looking at is Harry Pickering from Crewe, and after it was reported last week that a bid had gone in for him, it seems as though they’re still keen on signing him.

“I think they would ideally like to bring in, before the close of play on Monday, a left-back. Harry Pickering at Crewe is someone that they’ve targeted, they’ve put a bid in for him, he really does fit the profile,” Howson said.
“When you’re talking about exciting, young talent, I think that’s someone who Wednesday fans could definitely get on board with – he’s 22, he’s had a couple of great seasons at Crewe, played 150 matches, that would be a real coup”
As Howson says, this could be a real coup for the Yorkshire outfit.
Wednesday could certainly do with bolstering the left-back position this month, and Pickering has shown that he has the quality to improve a team in the Owls’ position.
Of course, playing in League One is a different challenge to Championship football, but with teams like Blackburn Rovers also in for him, it seems as though he may have the talent to flourish at this level.
Fingers crossed Wednesday can get this one over the line.
