Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has reacted on Instagram after his red card from Saturday was overturned. The Owls player was dismissed in the first half against Bristol City during the 1-0 defeat.
Alas, Wednesday have enjoyed a bit of luck off the pitch, however. Yesterday, it was announced that the decision to send Bannan off was incorrect and his red card was thrown out.
Wednesday star Bannan will now be available to face Millwall in a huge Championship clash this weekend at Hillsborough. The captain is extremely important to what Wednesday want to do and having him available is a plus.
Bannan reacts on Instagram to red card update
The 33-year-old will be fuming inside. Naturally, he will be buzzing to be available for Saturday but with 11 men, Wednesday probably don’t suffer another defeat at Bristol City last weekend.
After the decision to overturn his red card was made, Bannan took to Instagram to speak of his frustration. His five-word message simply said: “Too late but we move.”
Bannan will now lead Danny Rohl’s team against Millwall at the weekend. He remains the biggest leader in the Wednesday dressing room and having him available is a massive bonus for the Owls.
Bannan back to boost Wednesday
The experienced performer is one of the first names on the team sheet from a Wednesday perspective. He’s been a brilliant servant to the Owls and ultimately Rohl will appreciate his leadership qualities.
Bannan will be seething with the decision of the match referee on Saturday. At least he will get a chance to take his frustration out on Millwall at the weekend and will now be available for the match.
Rohl is learning a lot about his squad every day. One thing that he knows is crystal clear is that Bannan is a very important player to Wednesday in their current fight against relegation.
