Sheffield Wednesday skipper Barry Bannan has had his say on this ‘exciting’ Owls duo.

Sheffield Wednesday returned to winning ways last time out, coming from a goal behind to beat QPR at Hillsborough.

It was a huge relegation six-pointer for Danny Rohl‘s side who are now just five points behind Darren Moore’s Huddersfield Town in 21st.

The turnaround in form goes on and Rohl continues to receives high praise for the way he’s turned the club’s fortunes around in such a short space of time.

And his players are getting their share of the plaudits too, with Bannan now singling out both Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama for praise.

Musaba and Gassama playing their part under Rohl

Both Musaba and Gassama joined on permanent deals in the summer.

Their arrivals added some much-needed energy and pace to the Wednesday front-line, but it’s taken them a while for them to really bed into the team.

But, Musaba especially has really shown his class in recent weeks; the Dutchman has scored winning goals against Stoke City and QPR, with Gassama featuring in recent fixtures and giving the Owls that drive and energy in the final stages.

And speaking to The Star, Bannan has now had his say on the Wednesday duo, saying:

“The young boys have been brilliant to get us up the pitch. You can pass the ball to Musaba and Gassama and they’re going to get us a throw-in or a corner. We’ve not had that for a while and they’re exciting players… They can be frustrating as well but they just need to be helped along and they can be big assets for this club.”

‘Frustrating’, but ‘exciting’ Sheffield Wednesday talents

Both Musaba and Gassama have shown their potential this season. But like Bannan suggests, both remain quite raw players, Gassama especially, and so patience is needed to get them fully up to speed.

But having both as permanent players and now playing under a much more positive coach in Rohl could see them prevail into very valuable assets for the club, which is vital for teams in the Football League, and especially for teams like Sheffield Wednesday.

The club’s financial situation remains quite testing under owner Dejphon Chansiri, though he looks set to back Rohl in next month’s transfer window.

But if Musaba and Gassama can continue on their current trajectory, keep scoring goals and causing opposition defenders problems, then they’ll continue to see their transfer value rise and eventually they could make the club a lot of money.

And the same can of course be said of Sheffield Wednesday’s new star Bailey Cadamarteri, who was on the scoresheet again last weekend.

But for the time being, Musaba, Gassama, and Cadamarteri are playing important roles in the turnaround in form, which Rohl will hope to see continue when Sheffield Wednesday welcome Cardiff City this weekend.
