Barry Bannan has heaped praise on Danny Rohl following Sheffield Wednesday’s first win of the campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the midfielder admitted that Rohl had been a ‘breath of fresh air’ since joining the club last month.
The German was appointed as Xisco Munoz’s replacement in October as he took up his first role in management after enjoying spells with the likes of RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
The 34-year-old could prove to be a huge risk for Sheffield Wednesday, however he already looks to be on the right track after helping guide the Owls to a 2-0 with over Rotherham United last time out.
With the club still sat eight points from safety at the bottom of the Championship, Barry Bannan has suggested the Owls could be on the right path as the players have all ‘bought’ into Rohl’s plans.
“All the boys have bought into it,” Bannan said.

“It’s hard because we’re training at a higher tempo now and we need to get a little bit fitter. The last couple of games we’ve had people getting tired towards the 70-minute mark because of that intensity he wants.
“So it will take time but everybody has bought into it and that’s the way we want to play: play on the front foot and win the ball high up if we can. It’s been a breath of fresh air since he came in. I’m 33 and I’ve had a lot of coaches but I’m still learning and he’s really impressed the lads and we all want to do well for him.”
Can the inexperienced Danny Rohl do what Xisco Munoz couldn’t?
Danny Rohl has taken a huge challenge on for a manager who has never taken the reins at a football club before.
Barry Bannan is one of nine players in their 30s and it takes a big character like Rohl to be able to take charge of these veterans at such a young age.
But he seems to have arrived at Hillsborough with no fear and plenty of confidence and that seems to be really working well with this group.
If Rohl can get the team up to the levels he requires then there is no reason they can’t push on and pick up some positive results.
