Bailey Cadamarteri has hinted at what is to come from him after he signed a new deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
The club confirmed yesterday afternoon that the striker had put pen to paper on a new contract, less than two weeks after he had scored his first senior goal for the club.
Bailey Cadamarteri has spent most of his life with Sheffield Wednesday, landing himself his first professional contract last summer.
The teenager made his senior debut in the EFL Trophy in October 2022, but didn’t make his first team breakthrough until this season.
Despite missing most of the summer due to an injury that required surgery, Danny Rohl welcomed him into the first team picture and handed him his first Championship appearance in November.
Cadamarteri then went onto make his first start in the draw against Leicester City, before netting his first goal just days later against Blackburn Rovers.
The Owls then made their intention to tie the 18-year-old down to a new deal clear, with Cadamarteri now committing his future the Championship outfit.
Cadamarteri has now shared his delight at getting the deal done, while he has given a hint at what he will do now.
Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday’s YouTube channel, he said: “Very pleased, very happy. It’s a big step in the right direction. Sheffield Wednesday’s a massive club and we’ve got a great group of players around us that can do special things. Obviously being here from a young age, I thought it was the best place for me to stay.
“I’m a hard worker, that’s one of my go-to’s. I’ll graft and I’ll work hard and I’ll try my best to get to where I want to be. I’ve done that over the course of the season and I’ve managed to get to this stage.”
Can Bailey Cadamarteri keep up his impressive start?
Bailey Cadamarteri is one of only three players in the current Sheffield Wednesday squad to have risen up through the ranks, though Liam Palmer and Cameron Dawson’s promotion came over ten years ago.
The striker’s new deal is definitely a positive sign of things to come, as there would undeniably be interest in his signature in the summer transfer window.
Cadamarteri is still very young and raw, but has plenty of promise and it seems like Danny Rohl could be the perfect man to help him develop at Hillsborough. There is no doubt that the German played a key part in the teenager wanting to stay at the club too.
Cadamarteri will have to continue to compete for his place in the squad though. While he has really impressed in recent games, he isn’t guaranteed a start every game.
Michael Smith has returned to full fitness now and has 18 goals last season has shown how experienced and capable he is in front of goal.
But hopefully a bit of healthy competition can help Cadamarteri, as he doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself already.
