Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter were far from happy with Tony Pulis’ decision to substitute Jordan Rhodes off late in the game against Stoke on Saturday.
The Scottish striker was only brought into the game at half-time, but towards the end of the match he was again taken off, with no visible sign of injury.
Being subbed off after being subbed on is often described as the ultimate indignity in football, and you could see how gutted Rhodes was when his number was called by the fourth official.
The striker looks a far cry from the player Wednesday signed for £10 million a few years ago, and it seems as though Pulis isn’t one of his biggest fans.

Fortunately, Rhodes can take solace in the fact that the fans still seem to have his back, as many supporters called the manager out for his decision to bring the forward off so soon after he came on.
Hopefully, the striker sees the support he’s getting on social media after this incident as he may need a little boost of confidence after suffering the humiliation of being subbed off so soon after coming on.
Supporters were sure to make their feelings known on social media.

Disgraceful treatment of Rhodes. He’s only just come on!

Don’t agree with that at all with bringing Rhodes off. A player who already has little confidence. Shocking #swfc
