Sheffield Wednesday are in search of their next boss after parting ways with Darren Moore this evening.
The news has taken social media by storm. Moore leaves Sheffield Wednesday via mutual consent and nobody can quite believe it, with no immediate reasoning behind the decision.
It comes after the 49-year-old steered Wednesday to promotion from League One via the play-offs following a two-season hiatus from the Championship.
Moore has had his critics in the past and there’s often boardroom tension at Wednesday, but explaining Moore’s exit will take some doing.

Steven Gerrard
Gerrard recently shut down claims that he’s heading to Saudi Arabia. The former Rangers and Aston Villa boss is often mentioned alongside managerial vacancies and expect the bookies to add Gerrard to their Sheffield Wednesday lists in good time.
Javi Gracia
Gracia was most recently at Leeds United, but is perhaps better remembered for his time at Watford. He was at the club from January 2018 to September 2019 making him one of the longer-serving Hornets managers of the 21st Century.
He was well-liked at Vicarage Road, helping the club to achieve Premier League safety in the 2017/18 season whilst reaching the FA Cup final in 2019.
Nathan Jones
The former Luton Town boss is another quite-respected name on the managerial market. Despite his poor recent showing at Southampton, Jones laid the groundwork for Luton Town to earn promotion from the Championship and he’s been linked alongside several Championship vacancies since.
Daniel Farke
Farke is arguably the most Championship-proven boss on this list. He earned promotion twice with Norwich City and both times his side dominated the league, but Farke and Norwich could never quite cut it in the Premier League.
The German though is being heavily linked with the Leeds United job, though there’s been no official appointment yet.
Scott Parker
Another name linked with Leeds is former Bournemouth and Fulham boss Parker. He was most recently at Club Brugge for a brief spell, but it looks like he’s primed for a Championship return and Wednesday could be a good fit.
Parker earned promotion from the Championship with both Bournemouth and Fulham, though his style of play was often criticised.
