Sheffield Wednesday’s summer transfer plans look to be getting underway ahead of the transfer window opening up on June 14th.
And it promises to be another frantic summer window for the Owls as they gear up for their return to the Championship.
Darren Moore and his recruitment team have been hard at work over the past two years and with the 2023/24 Championship roster looking throughly competitive, Wednesday will need to be likewise this summer if they’re to avoid an immediate relegation.
But there’s three names linked with a summer move to Hillsborough ahead of the window opening up later this month…
Regan Poole
Yesterday, a report from The Star revealed that Sheffield Wednesday are weighing up a summer swoop for Lincoln City right-back Regan Poole, who is set to become a free agent this summer.
The 24-year-old was arguably the Imps’ best and most consistent player in the 2022/23 season. The former Manchester United man is capable of playing at right-back and as one of three central defenders too, making him a very versatile and shrewd potential addition for Wednesday ahead of their Championship return.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell

The Burnley and Northern Ireland goalkeeper spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Wednesday where he made 43 League One appearances for the Owls, as they achieved a top six finish.
He returned to Turf Moor after the Clarets’ relegation to the Championship last summer. Bailey Peacock-Farrell went on to make eight Championship appearances for Vincent Kompany’s side having played no.2 all season, but a recent report from Alan Nixon revealed that Wednesday are lining up another loan swoop for the 26-year-old ahead of next season.
Moore is already a huge admirer of Peacock-Farrell, labelling him as ‘the best goalkeeper’ in League One during the 2021/22 campaign.
Vaclav Hladky
It’s also claimed via Nixon that Ipswich Town shot-stopper Vaclav Hladky is a name on Wednesday’s transfer radar. The 32-year-old also played as a back-up goalkeeper last time round, managing just one League One appearance for Ipswich as they earned automatic promotion to the Champisonhip.
Formerly of Czech side Liberec, as well as the likes of St Mirren and Salford City, Hladky is out of contract next summer and seemingly a back-up option for Wednesday, who look like they’re in the market for a new no.1 in this summer’s transfer window.
