Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has claimed that Momo Diaby has a chance of returning for Saturday’s crunch clash with Millwall.

The head coach has been speaking with The Star.

So, what has Rohl said about Wednesday midfielder Diaby and his fitness? Let’s take a closer look…

Danny Rohl says Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Momo Diaby could return on Saturday

Well, it would appear as though Diaby isn’t going to be dealt another injury blow after missing half of the season with a broken foot.

The 27-year-old picked up a serious injury back in August that ruled him out for several months and he’s only recently returned.

Diaby returned to action for Wednesday against Hull on New Year’s Day and also featured against Watford and Huddersfield from the bench.

In his first start since his injury, he was forced to limp out of the action in the 63rd minute of the 2-0 win over Birmingham and missed the trip to Leicester.

Now, Rohl has told The Star that Diaby ‘could be available’ for this weekend, stating that the player is a ‘bit better’.

Diaby facing fight to win permanent Hillsborough contract

The player is currently on loan with Wednesday from Portuguese outfit Portimonense – but his chances of a permanent deal look bleak.

With just eight appearances in all competitions to his name in a Wednesday shirt, it will be an easy decision for the club to make on Diaby right now.

The French performer has a year to run on his contract with Portimonense and as a result, Wednesday would need to pay a fee for him.

Diaby seemingly has an incapability to stay fit and right now that is hampering his chance to prove himself.

However, it’s good news that he could be fit for this weekend’s game at Millwall.

Wednesday have to go down south and bring back three points and the combative nature of Diaby could be an asset to the Owls in that game.
