Conor Grant has travelled with Sheffield Wednesday’s first team squad to Bolton Wanderers.
Wednesday’s official Instagram account showed Grant entering the away dressing room at the University of Bolton Stadium on Tuesday, although he ultimately missed out on a place in Steve Bruce’s 18.
The Irish attacking midfielder scored in the recent under-23 successes against Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic, having only recently signed his first professional contract at Hillsborough.
And while his presence perhaps owes much to the Owls’ ongoing player shortage, it is pleasing to see the club’s youngsters aren’t being overlooked by Bruce – contradicting warnings made by some Aston Villa supporters at the time of his appointment as manager.
