Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz has said that Dominic Iorfa is going nowhere amid reports linking him with a summer move.
Iorfa, 28, played another starring role in Sheffield Wednesday’s last season, featuring 35 times in League One in what was his fifth season at Hillsborough.
He’s one of the longer-serving members in the side and one of the more experienced too, but earlier this month it was claimed that Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals Preston North End had taken an interest in the Englishman, whilst separate reports had linked Dinamo Zagreb.
But speaking after last night’s 1-0 friendly defeat v Doncaster Rovers, Munoz was quizzed on Iorfa and his future at the club, to which he said:
“Dominic? No, Dominic is important. No, no, no. 100% Dominic is our player. It is very good for us and right now we are keeping our team.”
Iorfa is one of very few players currently at Munoz’s disposal and one of very few with Championship experience. But Munoz further bolstered his ranks with the loan signing of Ashley Fletcher from Watford last night, adding to the likes of Reece James and Juan Delgado who’ve already signed for the Owls this summer.

No room for player exits this summer
Given the thinness of Sheffield Wednesday’s current first-team squad, the club has absolutely no room for player sales – especially of key players like Iorfa.
He’s proven himself in the Championship before and last season he showed that he’s put the worst of his injury troubles behind him, so expect him to play a key role for the club next time round.
And Munoz’s comment will give Wednesday fans confidence that Iorfa stays, though ultimately the decision is that of owner Dejphon Chansiri’s, so nothing is guaranteed.
Sheffield Wednesday’s season opener v Southampton takes place on Friday next week.
