Liam Palmer’s Thursday peaked at around 3pm.
Within 10 minutes of the Sheffield Wednesday player’s Scotland career beginning, his side were 2-0 down away to Kazakhstan.
And things only got worse for Alex McLeish’s men, who fell further behind after half-time and ultimately suffered a 3-0 defeat against the nation ranked 117th in the world.
After a result like that one, someone was always going to cop for it.
And despite appearing to have done little wrong – certainly in terms of Kazakhstan’s goals – Palmer is one of those dug out by angry Scotland fans afterwards.
This is what they’re saying about the 27-year-old on Twitter…
Palmer will hope to be given another chance to impress against San Marino on Sunday, before his return to Middlewood Road next week.
The Sheffield Wednesday academy product has been one of the club’s most improved players since Jos Luhukay was sacked late last year.
And the right-back’s spring could yet end on a high note, with the Owls emerging as shock play-off contenders.
Whether they make it or not, Palmer is certainly playing his way towards a new contract – albeit not based on Thursday’s performance…
