Xisco Munoz says Barry Bannan is ‘100% ready’ ahead of this weekend’s Championship clash v Preston North End.
Bannan, 33, was withdrawn early in Sheffield Wednesday’s defeat at Hull City last time out. Munoz revealed after the game that Bannan had picked up an injury in the Carabao Cup game v Stockport County and that the midfielder had to have injections in his ankle in order to play.
But ahead of Saturday’s home game v Preston North End in the Championship, Munoz revealed that Bannan is ‘doing better’, suggesting that the Wednesday skipper will be available to feature.
Munoz said:
Bannan has so far featured in every game for Sheffield Wednesday this season – his ninth season at the club as a permanent player.
Munoz’s side go in search of their first points of the season this weekend, having so far lost against Southampton and Hull City in the Championship.

Bannan back in time…
Wednesday could definitely have done with having Bannan on the pitch in the second half of the game v Hull City last weekend.
It was a very poor performance from the club and Bannan remains a key player and a real leader for the Owls, who’ve certainly started this season poorly.
A visit from Preston is another tough test for Munoz and his players. But with the club having had a boost with the arrival of Djeidi Gassama in midweek, and with Bannan seemingly fit, the club should be right up for the challenge.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 3pm.
