Sheffield Wednesday host Preston North End in the Championship tomorrow.

Sheffield Wednesday return to Hillsborough tomorrow afternoon, for what is their third Championship game of the 2023/24 season.

And it’s been a tough start for Xisco Munoz’s side; they suffered defeat on the opening day at home to Southampton, before losing to Hull City in their last outing.

That performance in Hull really highlighted a lot of flaws for the Owls and a response is needed tomorrow. But against a strong Preston outfit, it certainly won’t be easy.

Ryan Lowe’s side drew with Bristol City in their opening game of the season, then beating Sunderland at home last weekend.

They’ve made some good signings this summer and they look like they’ve improved once again, and Sky Sports pundit and former Wednesday midfielder David Prutton has predicted a 1-0 win for the Lilywhites at Hillsborough tomorrow.

Another tough outing for the Owls…

Every game in the Championship is tough, whether you’re a team fighting for promotion or fighting for survival.

Many might be thinking the same scoreline as Prutton tomorrow, and for Wednesday, the start of this season was always going to be tough given the amount of change in the backroom and to the playing staff this summer.

But things will get better as the season goes on. When Munoz gets his new players gelling more and settling into the Championship, Wednesday should start picking up more points.

Right now though, it’s tough, and tomorrow’s game will be another difficult one.
