Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 at Swansea City in the Championship on Saturday.
Sheffield Wednesday remain winless in the Championship after the opening eight games of the season.
And it was another poor performance from Xisco Munoz’s side who were 3-0 behind after 67 minutes, handing the Swans their first win of the season.
And Middlesbrough picked up their first win of the season on Saturday too beating Southampton 2-1 at home to leave the Owls in last place of the table.
Already there’s a four-point gap between Sheffield Wednesday and Championship safety. There’s still 38 games of the Championship campaign left to play, but any hope of survival seems to be rapidly dwindling.
And assessing the Swansea defeat on Twitter, The Star journalist Joe Crann gave this verdict:
“#SWFC beaten 3-0, half of the away end had already left by the time the final whistle went, and they go bottom of the Championship table. Truly dire.”
What next for Munoz and Sheffield Wednesday?
Munoz is under pressure. There’s surely no doubting that. But the Wednesday position has seemingly become so untenable that finding a manager with the quality needed to get Wednesday out of this rut will be very difficult.
There’s a few left now until the October international break which is often when we see the first managerial casualties of the season.
Munoz’s side host Sunderland next, then travel to West Brom, before hosting Huddersfield Town in the final game before the break.
Needless to say, they’re three vital games for Wednesday and three games which could well decided Munoz’s future at the club.
