Leeds United winger Dan James has been ruled out of this weekend’s Championship clash v Sheffield Wednesday, according to reports.

Sheffield Wednesday make the short journey to Leeds on Saturday where they face Yorkshire rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.

The Owls go into this one having lost against League Two Mansfield Town on penalties in the Carabao Cup last night, leaving Xisco Munoz’s side winless in 90 minutes this season; their only win was a penalty win over Stockport County in the Carabao Cup earlier this month.

Leeds also go into this game on the back of a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of a League Two side, after losing against Salford City on penalties last night.

But Daniel Farke’s men overcame Ipswich Town 4-3 in their last Championship outing and they’ll be right up for the visit of a lacklustre Wednesday side this weekend.

Leeds though will have to do it without James; the Welsh international has missed the last two outings with an adductor injury and he’s not been named in his nation’s upcoming international fixtures either, with The Yorkshire Post saying that James is set to miss the clash against Wednesday.

One less player to worry about…

Sheffield Wednesday have a huge task ahead of them this weekend, but James being ruled out is one less thing for boss Xisco Munoz to have to worry about.

There’s still the slight chance that he features with The Yorkshire Post only saying that James is set to miss out, but it looks highly likely that he doesn’t.

Wednesday will need every bit of quality they have to get anything from this weekend’s game, but going off their recent performances, it could be a long afternoon for the Owls.
