Sheffield Wednesday host Sunderland in the Championship on Friday night.

Sheffield Wednesday return to Hillsborough on Friday night, where they’ll once again go in search of their first league win of the season.

Xisco Munoz’s side are the only team in the Championship without a win so far, having claimed just two points from draws with Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

The Owls sit in last place of the table compared to Sunderland in 5th, who saw a three-game winning streak brought to an end by Cardiff City last time out.

Tony Mowbray’s side are looking good this season, and their fans have been travelling well.

As per the Black Cats’ official club website, a total of 3,605 Sunderland fans will be making their way to Hillsborough on Friday night, after being given an extra 1,205 tickets for the game.

It’s also added that the extra allocation ‘sold out within minutes’.

Sunderland travelling in numbers…

With Sheffield Wednesday desperate for a win, and with Owls fans not really filling out Hillsborough at all this season, having a packed out away end surely won’t so Munoz’s side any favours.

The Black Cats faithful will make a lot of noise and make it an even tougher test for Sheffield Wednesday, whose manager is seemingly on the brink of being axed.

Munoz has come under increasing criticism for his tactics and what not, with the last defeat at Swansea City being one of Wednesday’s worst performances under his watch.

But a win on Friday night would ease a lot of pressure on the Spaniard.

Kick off is at 8pm and the game will be shown live on Sky Sports.
