Sheffield Wednesday crashed out of the Carabao Cup on penalties after they put in a strong performance against Premier League outfit Brentford.
The game finished 1-1 at full-time after Djeidi Gassama’s sensational second-half strike cancelled out Kevin Schade’s opener.
With the tie unable to be settled in normal time, penalties decided who would progress to the quarter-finals, with Liam Palmer’s saved spot-kick sending the Owls out of the competition.
While Sheffield Wednesday ultimately missed out on additional prize money from the Carabao Cup, it was a performance to be proud of with BBC pundit Andy Reid particularly impressed.

Up against a strong Brentford side, many would be forgiven to presume the Bees would cruise into the quarter-finals.
However, despite the Premier League side’s early lead, Danny Rohl’s side didn’t give up and were unlucky not to progress themselves in the end.
As a result, former Nottingham Forest player Reid told the BBC that Sheffield Wednesday were ‘excellent’ throughout the game and should be ‘proud’.
He said: “Sheffield Wednesday were excellent in the second half. I think they upped the intensity and seemed to get a lot more aggressive in the tackle and Brentford didn’t have it all their own way. So they were fully deserved to get back into the game.”
Reid also added: “It was a really entertaining game and I think Sheffield Wednesday can be proud of their efforts.”
Sheffield Wednesday now must take Carabao Cup momentum into the Championship
Sheffield Wednesday have been in fine form over recent weeks. The club has risen up to 13th in the Championship and are just four points off the playoffs.
Despite Tuesday night’s defeat, the club now have the opportunity to gain additional momentum after going toe-to-toe with a Premier League side.
Promotion to the top flight is a dream not many of the Hillsborough faithful would have thought was possible in this campaign.
However, if they can continue their form, they are only going to continue to close in on the playoffs and give themselves a big opportunity to be promoted.
