Who is Daniel Bramall? Five facts about the Everton winger who played for Wednesday's U23s on Monday

Sheffield Wednesday named an unfamiliar face in their Under-23 side for Monday’s 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

But who exactly is the mystery man and what was he doing at Middlewood Road?

His name is Daniel Bramall…

A 20-year-old winger currently on Everton’s books.

He appears to be on trial with the Owls…

Although, as is commonplace in these types of situations, neither club has yet to provide an official explanation for Bramall’s appearance.

It’s something which tends to happen a lot this time of year…

Many bigger academies have already made decisions over which players they will and won’t be keeping next season, and those from the latter category tend to be informed early to aid their chances of finding a new club.

That was the case for Jordan Thorniley…

The Wednesday centre-back first arrived at Hillsborough on trial around this time three years ago, having been released by Bramall’s employers, Everton. He later earned a full-time contract with the Owls, for whom he has played 33 times at senior level.

Here’s something interesting…

Bramall was born in Sheffield and was on Chesterfield’s books before Everton came calling in 2015.

He is described by the Toffees’ official website as a right-back or right-winger whose ‘lung-busting runs down the right flank – and impressive crossing ability – mark him down as a player with considerable potential’.
