Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters want their side to move for a player who left the Owls’ Championship rivals Brentford on Thursday.
Kamohelo Mokotjo appeared 26 times for Brentford last season and scored or made three goals from defensive midfield.
An injury limited his post-lockdown game time, however, and his contract is not being renewed in the wake of the Bees’ play-off final defeat against Fulham on Tuesday.
Strengthening in Mokotjo’s position could be part of Wednesday’s summer plans, with Sam Hutchinson having already departed Hillsborough and Kieran Lee’s future uncertain.
And the following Owls fans believe he’d be worth a punt…
Kamo Mokotjo leaving Brentford on a free. I’d have him at #SWFC in a heartbeat, personally.
Classy midfielder with a great eye for a pass and one of the calmest players I’ve ever seen. 🇿🇦⚽️ pic.twitter.com/TUths9Ndsj

100% would be a great signing for #swfc. Seems too thoughtful and proactive for us to do something like that, though.

Would be a great signing. You never know if you don’t try weather he’d come or not

@YesWeCrann get on to the club. Give them a heads up, our scouting system have probably never heard of him!

Absolutely this. Top, top player. Alas midfield is an area where we are ok. #swfc https://t.co/2NGjGXl6bE

A great player. Could add a lot of calmness in the midfield which I think would mean Bannan could move further forward. We shouldn’t be sleeping on players like this especially when we can get them on a free. #SWFC https://t.co/zaKxXOJ6Jc

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
Mokotjo began his career with SuperSport United in his native South Africa, the country he has represented on 22 occasions, before spending eight years in Dutch football with Feyenoord, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente.
The 29-year-old arrived at Brentford in 2017 and is six appearances shy of a century in England’s second tier.
Sheffield Wednesday recently added the former Manchester City youngster Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to their options in Mokotjo’s position, where Barry Bannan, Massimo Luongo, Joey Pelupessy and Alex Hunt will compete for places as things stand next season.
