Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters are urging Garry Monk to start Fernando Forestieri against Birmingham City.
Forestieri has only started once for Wednesday in the Championship this season, but won a penalty that day (against QPR in August) and scored on his most recent outing from the bench (against Swansea City earlier this month).
Nevertheless, the Argentine forward remained an unused sub as the Owls were beaten 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
And enough is enough for the following Sheffield Wednesday fans, among whom conspiracy theories – ranging from secret contract clauses to a possible January sale – are rife…
If Forestieri doesn’t start Wednesday my concerns on Monk will be at a peak,

For me Forestieri should be playing all the time!
In 3 of the last 4 seasons he’s had the best goals per game ratio of all #swfc players
If forestieri plays, he guarantees goals!

How can you not play forestieri? Please someone ask monk after the game WHY??? We are costing OURSELVES every single week. #swfc

@swfc START FORESTIERI NEXT GAME

What’s Forestieri done to deserve this?
Not played and the one time he comes on and scores he’s chucked on wing and wasted again. He has something very few players in this league do and it’s just rotting away on the bench

Has Forestieri slept with Monks wife? Give him a game ffs #swfc

How Forestieri doesn’t get in is laughable. We create chances every match and don’t put them away. We have 2 striker that he actually plays who simply DO NOT score. I like Fletcher and Nuhiu and think they bring a lot to the team but do not score enough.

We knew this run of games against the top few would tell us a lot about where we are. Haven’t won any so can’t really have any arguments. I do like Monk, it just will never sit right with me not using someone like Forestieri. Get him out there, it’s a sad waste not to. #swfc

Only reason I can think forestieri doesn’t get in our team is he must be off in January unfortunately #swfc

Fernando Forestieri is definitely off in January #swfc it’s the only explanation 🤷🏻♂️

Forestieri top-scored in each of his first two seasons at Sheffield Wednesday, to whom he moved in a £3 million deal from Watford four-and-a-half years ago.
Since then, the 29-year-old has scored 39 goals and assisted 17 in 123 games for the Owls.
Of those strikes, 24 have arrived at Hillsborough, where Wednesday host Monk’s old side Birmingham in two days’ time.
Owls fans – should Forestieri start against the Blues on Wednesday?
