Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters were desperate to see Michael Hector return to Hillsborough from Chelsea this summer.
Hector was voted Wednesday’s player of last season, after excelling while on loan with the Owls.
And his signature is one that Lee Bullen has since confirmed was pursued by Sheffield Wednesday, who were ultimately priced out by Chelsea’s – reported £5 million – demands.
Wednesday, though, have conceded just twice in their four Championship fixtures so far and boast the division’s joint-best defensive record, alongside Leeds and Fulham.
And key to that have been the performances of Julian Börner, the man who was signed for free in the event that Hector didn’t come back.
Börner was particularly excellent in Tuesday’s 1-0 win against Luton Town.

As well as Börner, Sheffield Wednesday were able to add the Hamburg centre-back David Bates to their options in the position.
Bates moved to Hillsborough on a season-long loan but has yet to make an appearance for the Owls.
The 22-year-old has played with both Steven Fletcher and Liam Palmer for Scotland.
