Some Sheffield Wednesday fans are convinced the Owls will miss out on Eddie Nketiah, as Arsenal prepare to recall the striker from Leeds United.

Bristol Live reported earlier this week that Wednesday are one of the clubs who hope to sign Nketiah on loan, with Arsenal having grown ‘increasingly dissatisfied’ with his progress at Leeds.

Asked about the rumour on Tuesday, the Owls boss Garry Monk would neither confirm nor deny his side’s interest (The Star).

What Monk did admit, however, is that Wednesday are competing with a lot of teams to sign high calibre players on loan.

And according to Bristol Live, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Bristol City are also in the running for Nketiah’s signature, with the latter club said to be favourites.

This is what the Wednesday faithful are saying about the rumour on Twitter…

Monk has already outlined his intention to strengthen his attacking options in January, with Steven Fletcher (12) the only player to have scored more than three goals for the Owls this season.

And Nketiah, who was a regular scorer in Arsenal and England’s youth teams and has found the net five times from 18, mostly substitute, appearances for Leeds, would likely fit the bill.

Wednesday are one of the clubs trying to chase down Leeds at the top of the Championship.
