Some Birmingham City supporters believe the former Sheffield United striker James Beattie is bound for Sheffield Wednesday.

Beattie, who had two spells as a Sheffield United player, has worked with the new Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk at Southampton (as a teammate), Swansea City, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.

The Lancastrian remained at Birmingham after Monk’s departure this summer, but according to The Birmingham Mail he has since been redeployed from his role as first-team coach.

Speaking after his Hillsborough appointment, Monk told The Sheffield Star that he could look to reunite with some of his former colleagues.

And the following Birmingham fans think Beattie’s move is nailed-on…

Beattie scored against Sheffield Wednesday for Sheffield United in the 2007/08 Steel City Derby at Bramall Lane.

But his Blades career ended with Wednesday promoted to the Championship at United’s expense four years later.

And some of a Sheffield United persuasion are hoping that Beattie can finally get his revenge from inside Hillsborough, if he is to follow in Monk’s footsteps.

Will the Birmingham coach end up at Sheffield Wednesday?
