Some Barnsley supporters fear Sheffield Wednesday will prise the Tykes manager, Daniel Stendel, away from Oakwell.
According to the Mirror, Stendel is among the ‘possibilities’ for Wednesday, who lost Steve Bruce to Newcastle United this week.
The German boss led Barnsley to promotion in his first season on English shores, playing an attractive brand of football.
And he would be a popular choice among many of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion.

Losing Stendel to Hillsborough, though, would be a Barnsley fans’ worst nightmare.
The Tykes saw then manager Danny Wilson leave for Wednesday in 1998 and the striker Sam Winnall two-and-a-half years ago, and neither have been forgiven.
This is what the Oakwell faithful are saying about Stendel’s future on Twitter…
wendies better not come from stendel just coz bruce has decided he likes newcastle more than sunderland https://t.co/D0MNGVxoX1

Trying to enjoy this whole ‘Steve Bruce screwing over the Owls’ saga but I can’t shake the feeling that Stendel in the Wednesday dugout will be the end result 👀 #BarnsleyFC #SWFC #NUFC #SteveBruceLovesTheCricketHatesTheWednesday https://t.co/CSFMK8gBms

Why would Stendel want the Owls job when he’s settled and loved by us reds .

Positively, from a Barnsley persuasion, Stendel has slipped to 20/1 with one bookmaker – far behind new favourite, Chris Coleman, who is 11/10.
The 45-year-old previously managed Hannover 96 and boasts a win rate of more than 53 per cent throughout his career.
Could Stendel leave Barnsley for Sheffield Wednesday this summer?
